Spicy Tomato saaru

1/4 cup toor dal
1 tomato
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder
1 pinch of asafetida
1/4 tsp clove powder (lavang)
1/4 tsp cardamom powder (yalakki/elaichi)
1 tsp saarin pudi
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
Tamarind and jaggery 1:1 ratio
1 tbsp coriander leaves.

1.cook toor dal along with tomato in a cooker and blend it with a whisk.
2.heat oil in a pan, add all tempering items and clove and cardamom one by one.
3.add dal and water to it.let it boil
4.add red chilli powder, saarin pudi ,Tamarind and jaggery and boil for few more mins.
5.add chopped coriander leaves in the end

serve with rice.
